Filtration Is a Trend
Record clean starting pressure after a proper cleaning and compare future readings with that baseline. A rising pressure can indicate captured debris; a sudden drop may indicate a bypass, empty filter, broken internal, or flow change. Look at water clarity and return flow with the gauge.
Match the Method to the Filter
- Sand: backwash and rinse according to the valve and manufacturer's instructions, and monitor the condition of the media.
- DE: backwash where appropriate, recharge with the specified amount, and investigate any loss of media.
- Cartridge: remove and clean the element safely, inspect pleats and seals, and replace damaged cartridges.
Do Not Clean Blindly
Shut down and relieve pressure before opening any filter. Keep cleaning water and spent media from creating a new hazard or violating discharge rules. If pressure rises immediately after cleaning, check the valve position, flow rate, media, and internal parts before returning swimmers to the pool.
A clean filter is part of a complete system. Pair maintenance with proper circulation, balanced water, and regular observation of clarity.
